Club Furies Mix Series: Cintas Furiosas Present Alcarcia

Alcarcia is the director of ALCATAPES and co-founder of Polymorphism Records. An adventurous artist born and raised in Madrid. His attitude towards music is fearless and unexpected. These qualities imbue his production/selection with a unique and unrepeatable character. Throughout his tracks and sets there is a strong narrative thread, perhaps revealing his interest in audiovisual storytelling and film, going beyond musical expression. His understanding of aesthetics, expression, and communication through the arts is broad and complex. Dualities that identify him: versatility, but fussy, in the (un)intentional search for diversity, which means that he does not quite see the boundaries between genres.

His sounds range from the rawest rhythms of hard techno (or whatever) to the most relaxing ambient instrumental sounds. His passion and knowledge have to do with music with or without lyrics, purely electronic works or compositions from the pre-digital era which, in turn, influenced his experimental way of producing. With the spirit of a curious researcher and an innate artist, and the genuine willingness to collaborate and expand the network of passionate peers. Alcarcia, finally, was able to become the next host of our mix series. Faced with such sounds and creativity, we couldn’t say no, and instead, we are delighted to have him at Club Furies.

Our mix series is called Cintas Furiosas – Furiosus Tapes, in English. They are inspired by the band from the cult film The Warriors (1979) called Baseball Furies, and the scintillating Imperator Furiosa, the iconic character from the fourth installment of the Mad Max saga, Fury Road (2015), and now too from the Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (2024). Conceived as tapes that express a “furious sound”, both as a metaphor and as a sonic process, they acquire a special and unique fury with each artist they feature. With Alcarcia, the result is very dark, very versatile, and with precision without equal.

From the warmth of a full heart and at the same time heart-breaking nostalgia, in the midst of timeless utopias, Alcarcia shows us from the first selection the kind of sound he presents to us. Clean, dusty, shiny, and finely metallic atmospheres. Quickly turned into sure beats that light up the night. Limited by pristine structures, ambient, and drone, everything plunges into timeless times and placeless places, in the midst of battles to be fought.

After that, the voice rises as a way to give place in sound to individuality and the artist of that individuality. After that, there is only noise, brokenness, hopelessness, and dystopian worlds that become reality. The individual and the world have dissolved into them. It is time to step aside and let the rest of Alcarcia‘s Cinta Furiosa show its full sonic potential. Close your eyes, and contemplate the sound and the collection of this Spanish artist, who has simply delivered us a delight. Thank you so much for being part of the Cintas Furiosas! It’s such a delight to have you!
