Vasco Ispirian grew up in Madrid (Spain), one of the world’s centers for house and techno since the end of the last century. Remaining as such today based on his small, but exceptionally well-regarded circle of producers, events, and labels. Vasco Ispirian himself can be considered a true visionary. After an important stint as an instructor at Dubspot in New York, now defunct, followed by freelance teaching in electronic production, he now redirects his career towards studio work after a period exploring experimental and ambient electronica.

His long years of experience as a resident DJ and his exceptional tastes made him an emerging voice in New York’s rising underground, and his recent move to Los Angeles aims to continue this rise. In the spring of 2017 Vasco Ispirian launched Made in Green Records, a Berlin-based independent label with experimental leanings, releasing albums of ambient, leftfield techno, and downtempo electronica on cassette and digital formats.

The concept of Fata Morgana was inspired by Ispirian‘s live performances in the US. Then, back in Europe, Vasco refined the live takes, which were mixed and mastered in Madrid. The project sees the light of day in 2023, after the global impasse the world went through, as a two EP release: volumes I and II of Fata Morgana. The second installment of Fata Morgana is composed of four tracks. Cinematic bass-driven promises unfold in exciting layers on the first track Ohdee. This creates a superb lushness and gathering momentum on the second track Flashing on Flushing. The climax is reached with an abstract and imprecise electronic backdrop on the third track, Escape into the Sunset.

For the finale, the shapes change with My Pleasure, an avant-garde alt-ambient closer with a dialogue about pleasure and pain that constitutes Ispirian’s reflective statement. My Pleasure becomes the sound of unparalleled pleasurable becoming, which in conjunction with the vocals takes us to idyllic and ethereal places. As the sound of this track progresses it takes us to those places, in a warm, sophisticated, and subtle way. Shining in sound design, showing to be patient and very well cared for, the track becomes the perfect closing to an exceptional second installment of Fata Morgana.
