The artist known as Cycloplex, based in Granada, Spain, changes his register to immerse himself in other places. Now, his aka Tripulante 79 presents his first album titled Mareas y Tormentas on Rhod Records. Nine tracks of progression and experimentation, with a dub influence that gives room to all the cuts, as if it were a hypnotic session.
With this type of work, the Spanish label reaffirms its way of handling the circumstances of electronic music. With the firm belief that producers who do not allow themselves to be driven by fashions. In this way, Tripulante 79 performs an exercise of resistance in each of his songs, reflecting his musical concerns. Very measured progressions, unhurried, adding and subtracting elements to create a rich landscape.
The sound is also strongly influenced by significant concepts ― something that we value very much in Club Furies―, both by the name of the album, as well as the tracks that integrate it and the semantic unity as a whole that it proposes. Tormentas del Sur is the closing track. A constant sound, with a very particular quality: rhythms that seem like drills because of their incipience, but that are presented through hypnotism and dub that are almost velvety. A constant becoming that works as the final stop after a shocking sound storm and all the consequences of it.
And the slogan of this release, “the music is danced and also felt” is transparent: deep sensations, evoked by means of well-worked sounds, which assume a constant and precise sound design. A very well-cared edition, both by Tripulante 79 and by Rhod Records, which continues to show great curatorship in the presentation of its works.
