Club Furies

The collision of two sound worlds, a geographical space, and two artists in full effervescence! I am talking about Mauricio Borgetti, better known as Borgetti, an electronic music project born in Culiacán, Sinaloa, whose artistic vortices are noises, percussions, and distortions, and whose original background is a passion for rhythm and strong percussions. I am also talking about Sadissmo, coming straight out from Mazatlán, Sinaloa -currently based in Guadalajara, Jalisco-, whose artistic project shows us the dark side of his mind.

Both artists are emerging producers, who have had spectacular debuts. Borgetti did it with La Plebada for Controlla; and Sadissmo, with Killing Machine for La Volta Ros. Now, the result of the collision is 605, an original track with a non-negotiable attitude, strong references to local police semantics, and the Mexican sound – could it be that we have been facing a new style of sound in Mexico for a few years now? -, Controlla – the label led by Ali X and Ximena – has been used in its artistic concept for some time now.

Manifest pads become latent percussions that sit behind the rhythm boxes, which guide the way to police justice – which ipso facto sends us to hell. After that, everything explodes into reluctant rhythmic mediations; that is to say, all quiet… still. Sound and rhythm are locked in constant dense turbulence, which leads to samples of some security agent who takes it upon himself to spot and ignite the veins of the track.

And again, the interweaving, which takes us little by little to delirium, in the middle of threads that modify the structure of the sound, more engrossed now in spatial labyrinths. Space that becomes sound; labyrinths that show themselves in sound; repetitions that achieve connectivity and recursion. It all forms a well-polished and dense skein, flashing freshness, rhythm, and strength, as well as an unassailable attitude and empowerment.
