Illegal Alien Records welcomes back legendary German disc jockey and producer Alexander Kowalski. Kowalski is a German Techno producer, who elegantly fuses elements of classic Detroit techno and historical Berlin techno. His penchant for sophisticated basslines, deep beats, and challenging arrangements breathes new life into techno. He is an expert at programming his tracks so that they are direct, deep, housy, dubby, and funky. This versatility is one of the reasons for his reputation among ravers and underground techno fans alike.

With a couple of releases on the Mexican label led by Ricardo Garduno, Alexander returns with his extended play solo debut, entitled The Clouds of Metropolis. A great release with three original tracks – the eponymous track, Synaptic Sirens, and Parallel Lines. Each track is complemented by a remix from a different artist: the great D-Leria, Colombia’s talented producer Insen, and the boss Ricardo Garduno.

The original track Synaptic Sirens plays in hypnotic planes with the sounds made by the elements of the synapse -connection of neurons-. That processual correlate drills our psyche so that we constantly feel as if our whole being were reduced to that connection: recursive, enveloping, infinite, losing the notion of space and time. Not only that, but the sound transports us to galactic lands. That lunar and neural influx, Ricardo Garduno raverizes it, retunes it in thicker keys, fleetingly gritty, with a slightly more frenetic rhyme.

As he goes along, the sound bursts with impressive vocals and recursive rhythms that make for fast, finely energetic connections, exploding in the veins of the dancefloor as the track reaches its climax. After that, everything becomes perceptual ecstasy, in which cognition leaves its place to emotions, senses, sound, the shadows that are next to us dancing, and the club that fills with infinity. In sum, we have two brilliant producers, who manage to tune into the sound, delivering an impressive work of art.
