For more than ten years, Darknet has been blazing a trail in the electronic dance music scene. Darknet is the sub-label of Android Muziq, which is dedicated to the assimilation, encryption, and global dispersal – via multi-coloured 12-inch vinyl and related digital capsules – of the most innovative and highest quality productions of the most avant-garde, scintillating and mesmerizingly dark new wave of techno.

Enraptured for several years with this label, we are pleased to introduce the Finnish producer with his fourth release on the Australian label. We are talking about Empath, who after three works, presents his fourth, entitled Archetypes, an impressive double tracker – Poet and Soldier. Archetypes are original and primary models in an art form or something else, from which other reproductions of it are copied or emulated. We could think of both the poet and the soldier as archetypes of the lyric and the action respectively.

The sound on the other hand is dense, swirling, and confluent with heavy elements that do not allow oxygen to be free. This does not happen, however, without the preceding elements, i.e. the beginning of the song, which endow it with its possibilities: vocals that seem to be at the same time military commands as orders for the dancer. To the action or to the floor, or to both. Once the orders have been given, the sound is unleashed, albeit at the aforementioned coordinates. What remains for the raver is to appropriate sound delirium in the form of impenetrable dances and manic thoughts.

It’s time to slow down; it’s time to return to the lyric; in other words, it’s time to restart Archetypes, to return to the model from which we started. This is a spectacular double tracker, which continues to prove Empath’s artistic worth and Darknet’s excellent, well-groomed, and clean-shaven curation.
