Club Furies Premiere: Samuel L Session, DBFB – The Train (Samuel L Session Vision) [Illegal Alien Records]

Illegal Alien Records welcomes legendary Swedish techno producer Samuel L Session and Croatian emerging techno duo DBFB, composed of Bosnyak and Observer. This is both artists’ debut EP on the Mexican label, entitled Don’t Miss The Train. The work has a special feature that makes it very special. It is made up of two tracks, Don’t Miss and The Train, which in a sentence form the title of the work. At the same time, each of them, composed by Samuel L Session and DBFB, undergoes a particular treatment by each of them. That is, Don’t Miss is presented with the vision of Samuel L Session and that of DBFB, and The Train is also presented with the vision of Samuel L Session and that of DBFB. That way, the sound of both is presented together, on the one hand, and separately, on the other hand. This enriches the sound exceptionally.

Samuel L Session‘s vision for The Train is presented as thundering and throbbing from the start, the progression of which undergoes sonic polishers that thin out the rhythm and sound layers slightly. The percussion remains constant and the galactic halos overlap fleetingly and discontinuously, letting the techno hammers do their work. Now it’s shivering bells that jingle the sound, causing expectant beats, which fade into silence, leaving us stranded.

In the end, all the layers of sound become one, as they are extinguished in the inexorable black of the universe, while the bodies melt into sound, reaching non-existence. Samuel L Session‘s train thus disappears into nothingness, but not before having exploited all its sonic potentialities. We continue to be impressed by the symbiosis of both artists in this work, which underwent double treatment; and at the same time by the curatorship of the Mexican label, which continues to prove itself to be a reference in world techno.
