The artistic project called Testículo emerged from the chaotic confluence of creative energies in 2019, marked by constant changes and evolutions. Nestled in the artistic back alleys of Buenos Aires, a particular sound has emerged. This time, that sound continues its wanderings with Elementos del Terror, a release on Periphylla, one of Diffuse Reality Records‘ projects, and one of our favourites for its sound and concept.
Elements of Terror is not only a testament to Testículo‘s intriguing artistry, but also a celebration of music, as the number of remixes come from artists with very different rhythms and sound timbres. You only have to look at the tracklist to see that. The work is made up of three original tracks – the title that gives the name to the release, Las Matemáticas del Demonio, and a collaborative bonus track, A. M. O. R. – and thirteen remixes or versions of the original.
The original mix resonates in the stridency of the sound’s darkness and booming as well as sharp and subtle lyrics, whose sonic delta collides with the unexpected brutality and its delirious symbiosis. Tbilisi’s Georgian Henry Keller, Anri Kereselidze’s alter ego, almost completely disintegrates the original sound, leaving behind remnants of the vocals, undermining the sound with unstoppable freneticism and speed that insert themselves into the veins of the track.
As it goes on, the sound doesn’t stop, becoming a Techno/Electro hammer that arms itself with the fleeting vocals of the original track, only to complete the sonic aufhebung. The speed of the beat stops only once, to make us aware of where we are, to give full space to the vocals, and so continue the fast-paced Georgian version of Elements of Terror. As all speed requires no speed, it is time to slow down: it is time for voices and silences in sound.
