Weever’s latest masterpiece, ‘Mémoires De Guerre‘, is out now on Arrosa’s label, Khoinix. This album transports listeners to the harsh reality of the 13th century when life was relentless and war reigned supreme. Life at this time was raw and ruthless, with wars everywhere and everyone defending their own interests. Through these memoirs, we are transported back to a time when survival meant constant vigilance, and every decision carried the weight of life or death. Weever’s Mémoires de Guerre is a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by those who came before us and of the lasting impact of war on society.

In the words of the owner of the Vives record label, in these Mémoires De Guerre, «I recount the countless battles I have fought, the lives I have taken, and the atrocities I have witnessed. It is a constant reminder of the darkness that resides within me, a darkness that can never be erased. As I take up my sword once more, I am reminded that even in this chaotic world, honor can still be found, even if it is stained with blood. Yet amidst the chaos and despair, a glimmer of hope emerges.
«Eternally haunted eyes» could be one of the translations of Les Yeux à Jamais Hanté, the song that opens the way for remixes – by Oliver, Vittorio Di Mango, Rommek, CVNSUMED, and Fairground of Tears – after four more original tracks. From the depths of the suffering of war and its aftermath, the sound is dense, dense, thick, impassable, hammering. Such is the intensity with which these elements are brought together that it can be overwhelming – and that’s the intended effect, and it’s achieved to perfection. Amidst the hopelessness and lack of longing to achieve, a celestial halo is echoed in the sound, taking us to other places.
Like war, the sound knows in which environments its boundaries are defined: celestial halos that escape once more into the void, leaving us stranded in suffering and heaviness. But, as Weever’s mind – as well as everyone’s – is always in constant struggle, the structure of the track makes room for both elements simultaneously. Hope and suffering coexist in conflict, in a well-thought-out and crafted sound design that manages to be prescient with what it wants to express. Alter is ready to experience the sound that ego has proposed. Khoinix’s curation continues to prove to be sophisticated and well thought out.
