Club Furies Premiere: Unknown Artist – Archive 12 [Unknown Archives]

Unknown Archives began its journey through the techno scene only a couple of months ago, at most, with its first compilation Various Artists, which includes 10 anonymous tracks. This quality is because the songs are judged by the music’s sound rather than the artist’s name. Based in Madrid, Spain, the new label aims to fixate on the sensations caused by the sound, rather than the transmission produced by an artist’s name. It is about the creation of a utopian world in which music should be listened to.

No names, just music focused on the underground scene with experimental and groovy elements, comes the second release. Composed of four tracks, its titles also maintain their semantics in the nameless, being called archives, whose sound is suggestive, intense, and wonderful. The title of this work is El Bosque de los Suicidas, perhaps alluding to the infamous Aokigahara forest, located at the base of Mount Fuji, known for being the preferred enclave for many Japanese who decide to end their lives.

If we stick to the no-name semantic – which in itself tells us how much this project seeks to settle on the underground, the real underground, not the mainstream underground, whose essence keeps the preeminence in the sound, not in the names – and Aokingahara’s forest, Archive 12‘s sound is initially reticent, mysterious and expectant. Expectant and reticent of Alter’s reaction to his sonic work. How can it be that a track that hasn’t met what is called the critics and the audience can be expectant of what the audience experiences of his sound? Through a series of previously given semantics and structures, among which is the audience, Archive 12 generates his sound art.

Effervescent, dense, rattling, labyrinthine, lurking. A plethora of sound design elements and sensations allow the emergence of a powerful and fierce whole. Power and ferocity are mediated by devices that constantly measure its pulse. Which is to say that these are not qualities that are left to their own free will, but to the will of our unknown sound artist. This allows all the elements of sound to be controlled in such a way that the result is fascinating.

Always with the latent sensation that the explosion is imminent and that incandescent lava will erupt everywhere, during six minutes that become times without times and spaces without space, Archive 12 is only a vertex from which all this second release is understood. We can assure you that the other archives are also a ball of nuclear and volcanic energy that seeks to revitalize underground techno and also to give continuity and stabilization to the underground techno that remains underground.
