Dario Evangelista is a producer from Andria, Italy, also known as Enter The Void – focusing on acid techno, influenced by dark and aggressive sounds. His musical path started with playing guitar and studying solfège. By the time he discovered experimentation in electronic music, he began to build his sound on his previous musical influences.
His debut on Diffuse Reality Records comes with Hourglass, an EP of four original tracks, whose titles – The Clock, The Character, The Surgeon, and The Joker – are suggestive: what do a clock, a character, a surgeon and the Joker have to do with each other and with an hourglass? We are faced with an enigma, to begin with. Sound must be some source of trying to solve it. For now, we focus on The Joker. The jester historically refers us to as a comic character in charge of amusing kings and courtiers with jokes and gestures.
The sound appears playful and lighthearted in appearance, possibly due to a phenomenal skill with sound design. Quickly stabilizing with these qualities, it subtly becomes hypnotic, while the beats per minute undergo a slight acceleration. This new quality of the rhythm stabilizes in the same way as the previous elements, imbuing it with a greater capacity for hypnotism.
Deepening the hypnosis, the sound is dense, thick, and very hammering. Trapped in it, the mind enters into equally dense and overwhelming tribulations. At the same time, however, once the sound keeps pace, it serves as a mediator of those tribulations in which the mind loses itself, without allowing total misdirection. Semi-consciously, the ego begins to lose itself in the sonorous clock that Dario Evangelista has provided.
