Victor Zala is a Moldovan Techno producer, currently based in Athens, Greece. In 2015, he started composing his first tracks, to discover his sound. Eventually, for the last two years, he has been delivering unique material with his own signature, based on deep hypnotic structures, but with a groovy banging flavour, mixing from physical soundscapes to dark industrial tracks. His sound can be defined as uniquely styled isolated percussion and bass atmospheres mixed in deep hypnosis. Textures rich in elegance and dystopian soundscapes that take us to the next level. And atmospheric textures, combined with melodic and dynamic elements.
Their arrival on Diffuse Reality Records is entitled Moria. Moria in psychiatry is a morbid state in which subjects have a penchant for unethical pranks and enjoy behaving outlandishly; it is seen in certain brain lesions such as frontal lobe tumours. Mount Moriah, meaning ‘ordained/considered by the Lord’, is the mountain to which, according to Genesis, Abraham climbed with his firstborn son Isaac to sacrifice him to God. Moriah, also known as the ‘Dark Pit’, is the name given to the largest Dwarf-built mines in Middle-earth, located further south in the Misty Mountains. Also known as Khazad-dûm (dwarves’ mansion), a place they dug so deep that they woke up a Balrog, after which they abandoned the place, turning it into one of darkness and fear.

As far as we can see, this is a name rich in meaning, but we are not sure which one it is. Four tracks make up this work, one of them with the name Moria, and the closing track is called Myra. Myra is an ancient Lycian city, located 1.5 km north of the present-day city of Demre, in the province of Antalya (Turkey), rich in history and culture. How to bridge the gap between Moria and Myra? That is up to all of us. We will try to do our part with the sounds of Myra, the city that has always been disputed by the ancient empires.
Incipient to begin with, its sound quickly brings with it exciting palpitations that keep us expectant. Crackling sounds, coming from the depths of the earth and time. Sounds layered in parallel layers that dance with each other organically and placidly. On that level; on the level of the whole, the sounds are voracious, fierce and always in crescendo. Blasting off in clean, bright, clear deltas, Myra‘s techno is sharp, deep, and hypnotic, which stands out from her conceptual racking, forming sonic-conceptual paradoxes that enrich her further.
In the end, anticipation and excitement overtake delirium and madness but don’t worry. The sound design intended it that way. So, mediated by it, those usually negative sensations become the influx of night, ecstasy and Dionysus. Victor Zala signs a powerful release on Diffuse Reality Records, becoming ipso facto a Club Furies favourite.
