Just as a text seeks the immediate attention of the reader, Cuidado Con Los Niños – Beware of Children, in English- does the same provocatively, perhaps playing with the contemporary semantics that is currently being imposed, that of cancellation and political correctness. Or perhaps it is simply a warning when children have ingested too much sugar and turn into little Gremlins when they get wet.

And while it is true that the title of an artistic work is as important as the work itself, in this case, the sound it names is no less provocative – as Controlla‘s sound has always been – and shocking. We’re talking about Controlla’s next gem, entitled Cuidado con los Niños – which follows another diamond, the one recently presented by the Mexican platform’s dream provider. An original track plus remixes by Mexico’s Technicism and ROB-IIN.

The drum machines, synths, and all the machinery at the service of Ali X x Ximena collide immediately with Ximena‘s vocals: «cuidado con los niños… que andan fuera de control», which are met with a dissident love affair and an impending dancefloor. And when the vocals glide comfortably into the sound, they crash into the sound, which subjugates itself to Ximena and Ali X‘s creativity, taking it over.

And when Ximena‘s whole attitude is mimicked in the sound, Ali X‘s vocals, full of all of his attitude, further enhance the track. The moment comes when not only the kids are out of control, but the raver, who has consumed too much alcohol, drugs, and electronics. And just before Uncle Ali tells us to «cuidado con el tío Ali», it dawns on us. The children to watch out for are all of us: the dancer, the raver, the artist, the listener, and the children themselves. While the sound machines have become autonomous, leading their own revolution.

With a catalogue always in a crescendo, seeking not only mere accumulation but a constant transformation in sound, its rhythmic structures, visual art, and a non-negotiable attitude, Controlla continues to show avant-garde in contemporary electronica. This time in the hands of the bosses, Ali X x Ximena. So watch out for Controlla!
