Club Furies

A regular on the pages of Club Furies, both for his openness and accessibility and for his sound, which we have found fascinating and sophisticated. Due to his atmospheric, ambient, dark, hard, and powerful layers, immersed in the techno sound; as well as his always disturbing rhythms, as subtle and sharp. Empath has positioned himself as one of our favourite producers and a full-guaranteed recommendation.

That’s why we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to invite him to our mix series, entitled Cintas Furiosas – Furious Tapes, in English. Inspired by the band from the cult film The Warriors (1979) called Baseball Furies and the brand new Imperator Furiosa, the iconic character from the fourth installment of the Mad Max saga, Fury Road (2015). Conceived as tapes that express «furious sound», as a metaphor and as a sonic process, which acquires a particular rhythm with each artist, this time is no exception.

Dark, gritty, bright atmospheres, set in post-apocalyptic times and places with no predetermined place or space. Well-polished rhythms, as well as subtle ones, progressively lead us to the hopelessness of life and the world. Sound valleys that turn into mountain ranges and, with that, changing rhythms. Spectacular transitions always prostrated in the ethereal blurring beforehand and the expectation in crescendo afterward, as well as ever-evolving comings and goings.

In a contemporary world where superficial showiness and easy sounds often become the mainstream of the underground, it is worth paying attention to Empath‘s sound – not only as a producer but as a selector as well. He manages the transition into demanding dancefloors and into the darkness of the cool city night, where the sound remains underpinned in an almost infinite and fluid way. The finale leaves us in fleeting nostalgia and the power of the techno sledgehammer.
