Working in a spectrum of unlimited, crisp, and functional techno, STGNT has reinvented himself as a consummate underground exponent. It is seemingly paradoxical to embrace the imperfections and atonalities of sound that the average listener may perceive as stagnant. That is the path behind his persona.
«Those aural nuances that give the listener an illusion of change, almost like hacking into the human attention span. The fact that frequencies as low as 50 hertz (or less) can influence the movements of the human body is fascinating to me,» says Shashwat Trivedi, a resident of Bangalore, South India. Driven by an intuitive and energetic psyche that steers his sonic vessels into erratic sonic territories, it can only be likened to a wild excursion into another dimension of strange, rhythmic, and futuristic macrocosm.
Ever inventive and obsessive with his creative process, he has been around the block since 2011 and has cultivated an abundance of experience. STGNT‘s performances highlight his ability to build long trajectories of suspense in his DJ sets. His talent for telling a gradually shifting story wrapped in a galvanizing soundscape is evident as he demonstrates total command over his audience, drawing them into a stroboscopic haze.

Now, to usher in the year 2024, he presents his collaboration on the India Observant platform, which presents its seventeenth stripe on the plate to celebrate its third anniversary. This is the fourth volume of his compilation Various Artists Point of View. A fascinating series dedicated to focusing on visionary talents with a different musical perspective.
The spirit of these compilations is rooted in the testimony of Observant‘s firm belief in showcasing emerging talent from their native India, alongside their accomplished counterparts from around the world, whose craftsmanship and potential they ardently champion. Regardless of the stature of the industry, this release cements Observant‘s dedication to transcending boundaries and delivering a distinctive listening experience, a commitment to capturing a wide range of embellishments tailored to both first-timers and seasoned veterans alike.
Komatose or perhaps comatose is said of a person unconscious and unable to wake up, usually due to illness or injury. The sound of this track starts in deep, fiery places, perhaps a cave where ritualistic dances take place or some underground club in full swing, while some intermittent gasps remind us of the title of the track and what it refers to. Between fast and agile rhythms and antonymous semantics, this track models an ambivalence between dynamic and static in sound.
In this emerging dualism, dance is empowered to climactic levels amidst potent nights and darkness, full of meaning and hedonistic actualities. A compilation as extensive as Observant‘s third-anniversary compilation contains a lot of artistic potential, but also a lot of empowered potential, showing what India has to offer to the sound of electronic music in general and techno in particular. And STGNT‘s Komatose is just one symptom.
