«We bite our lips with this jewel that has just been born». So announces the new collaboration of Pvlomo and Galo Santo presented by Controlla, who melt us with their first extended play. It’s titled Papi, a work of five original tracks. The eponymous track and the one that opens this release is a super special work with which this pair met; a love letter to the Madrid movida of the eighties.
It is followed by Savna Love, which takes us into the horny adventures that take place in steam baths; while Cursi Track, an amalgam between inspiration and tribute to the tracks that get us up to our ears at the parties, taking sounds from all eras. M+S Amor combines italo-disco with the Controllezco feel and vibe. While Acid Love, the closing track of this acid-pop delight, takes us back to the Sauna, but with a fast beat that explores the combination of different aural aesthetics that fit with today’s styles, from small clubs to big raves: a catchy, acid, pop and unforgettable sound.
We have always been attracted to that everyday scene in a bar or club that glimpses two people courting each other. Maybe they just want to chat for a while; maybe they want revenge for some recent infidelity; maybe they want to fall in love for the first time – or again. And if we want to soundtrack this situation, we would usually play a boring so-called «romantic» song. But we are not – and always remember – talking about usual sounds.
We want something special, and unique, because that situation is always exciting, and fills our whole body with adrenaline, making the blood flow through all our veins at an incredibly high speed. And here the body becomes a sine qua non-condition of this situation: as the receiver of the excitement, as well as the one who will experience what is coming.
With their Papi, Pvlomo and Galo Santo overflow with sexuality, sonically and lyrically, being at the same time explicit and sophisticated. Amidst taciturn, romantic, and expectant rhythms, the vocals are a call to action and to bodily and semantic exchanges between alter and ego. But maybe that will happen; maybe it won’t. It’s up to us to realize what Papi has proposed, which is undoubtedly exciting.
