Mexican label KPLR Label, led by Madem and Crøg, presents its new release. After the gem that was and is Mwamwa’s Web, comes Nøvek‘s Turmalina. Mateo, also known as Nøvek, was born in Mar del Plata (Argentina). Currently, he lives in Barcelona (Spain), where he began his musical career in 2019. He was searching and exploring different musical styles until he found his sound identity in the underground scene.

Nøvek‘s sound is nourished by a sonic flexibility, which allows him to oscillate and merge elements and characteristics of Techno (Raw/Deep/Hypnotic) and Psy-Trance, without limiting or pigeonholing himself in a single genre. In his DJ sets as well as in his productions, he is characterized by hypnotic atmospheres, solid grooves, and psychedelic textures. He uses his sound as a medium to propose a journey from introspection to collective connection on the dance floor through listening and dancing. This with the consideration of music and sounds as a powerful way of liberation and transformation, beyond the playful.

For his release on KPLR Label, he highlights the flexibility of sound, including all the characteristic atmospheres of his production: hypnotic, solid grooves, and psychedelic textures. This ensures introspection and collective connection on the dancefloor. Composed of four original tracks, tourmaline is a group of minerals whose name comes from the Sinhalese word «touramalli», meaning, «stones of mixed colors», or from the word «turamali», meaning «stone that attracts ashes», which refers to its pyro piezoelectric characteristics.

This group of tourmalines is composed of the eponymous clue, Jade, Agate, and Cuarzo. Quartz is a compound mineral and is one of the most common minerals in the earth’s crust (igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary rocks). It is noted for its hardness and resistance to weathering on the earth’s surface. This is immediately noticeable in the track because the sound of this track finds a close connection with quartz: hard, powerful, and resistant. With these primal qualities, the dance floor is his, as well as the psyche and body of the dancers.
