Club Furies

Oleg is the founder of the Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine-based label Garden Xub. He also writes electronic music under the alias Benjamin WiSE. As a producer, he has just started publishing releases of his four-part project Terraforming. It is a musical story about the Earth before the catastrophe; the post-apocalypse; the journey in a spaceship and the terraforming of an exoplanet.

Darkcore, Hauntology House, and Neo-Gothic Techno are the instruments through which Benjamin WiSE talks about the world before the catastrophe. According to the concept, the sound of each release is remarkably different from each other, but it doesn’t sound like a simple multi-genre cocktail, because a thin red line runs through all the tracks with a narrative component. Which, in turn, is not without a double bottom line. This means that the first installment titled Before the Storm is only the beginning.

Killer in/of Gig Economy system is the opening track of this epic story. The sound of the track can be described as Neo-Gothic Techno ― a reinterpretation of 90’s acid techno through witch house atmosphere. The enveloping sound of the synthesizers, in which the drum part seems to drown, creates an entourage of viscous oblivion. In between such drowning, oxygen is scarce and breathing becomes slightly accelerated. The time of such extinction extends ad infinitum, creating these post-apocalyptic atmospheres, and stories of humanity fading away.

Here only sometimes the sharp percussion makes itself felt under the low-frequency subterranean rumble of the bass. The sound reaches silence, and breathing becomes a presumption, again. The threads of hell subtly make themselves felt, but the fury of the track makes itself felt again. This is a dark, but seductive track at 145 bpm, which could be a good way into a late-night event in some bunker, complete with a deep red strobe! What a way for Benjamin WiSE to kick off this series: dark electronica has never had a better reference sound with these new releases from Garden Xub.
