The Mexican sound art platform Illegal Alien Records presents its new release in ten-inch edition – a beautiful size to hold in your hands. It is the return of the Split series titled Horizons, this time by two powerful artists, Casual Treatment and Fresko.
Fresko is an entity that has appeared and disappeared hundreds of times over indefinitely long periods, going back to wartime. Their sound could be placed on dark and aggressive backgrounds (stages), although most of the time in an inappropriate way, given the clear awareness of the contrast between the grotesque and the profound. His proposal contributes to rave culture and sound by allowing multiple virgin connections between body and memory.
Currently based in Lisbon, Portugal, he presents Vamp for this beautiful new vinyl. The word vamp alludes to a noun that comes from the word vampire. It is one of the main archetypes used to represent women and their sexuality in cinema. The sound of the track runs after scary and dense vampire semantics, which quickly come to rest in the center.
Abrupt sounds coated in sand and fire, blood and rhythm. Agilities that flashback to the speed of the vampires and slowing rhythms that linger in the moments before the deadly bite. Latent speeds that constantly become manifest, and sensual bodily figures that appear and disappear at will. And unexpected lulls that take us to the other side.
Fresko manages to shape an extraordinary track, full of energy and rhythmic effervescence, finding visual parallels with the vamp archetype and its vampiric origin. In the end, it all reverberates steadily through the speakers in a dense, sexy, and finely crafted manner. A phenomenal contribution to the fourth volume of Horizons.
