A few weeks ago we presented the debut on our pages of one of our favorite Mexican producers, with an extensive trajectory, and whose boss Drvg Cvlture knew how to identify to the fullest the meaning of a hypnotic sound. Mogo is a producer originally from Acambay, Mexico, who has shown himself to be an artistic product more than confirmed, and who continues to evolve his sound.
This time he presents the re-release of two works, Iluminación and Mr. Buchla, comprising eleven original tracks. One of these tracks is entitled Desapego. Detachment is the lack of fondness or interest, drifting away. It can also be understood as disinterest, coldness, indifference, aloofness. Its antonyms are attachment, interest, and affection. How can we be interested in the sound of something whose title alludes to the opposite? We are faced with a paradox: to find an attachment to something that refers to detachment.
The quality and creativity of the Mexican’s sound manages to confront this paradox. On the surface, the sound structure goes unnoticed, with subtle, almost invisible rhythmic notes and taciturn, cool, ethereal atmospheres. However, someone has to create these results. It’s Mogo‘s attachment to thoughtful, sophisticated sound design that shapes those sounds. Over long periods, that effect of detachment is prolonged and deepened, achieving ineffable feelings.
