L’Ombre is a French project of open-minded exploratory techno, born in 1991 and a lover of analog noise. For one of his most recent releases, he presents The Lands on the Mexican label KPLR. A work of four original tracks, whose names allude to three mountain systems in France – Oisans, Chartreuse, and Vercors. Hence the name of this beautiful work.
Vercors is a Regional Natural Park, a natural limestone fortress between the departments of Drome and Isere. It is composed of 8 natural regions – Vercors Drômois, Diois, Gervanne, Royans-Drôme, Quatre-Montagnes, Trièves, Royans-Isère and Piémont Nord. Full of natural treasures, the Vercors Park is distinguished by the diversity of its landscapes, unspoiled and grandiose. High limestone escarpments, deep gorges, chasms and caves, high plateaus, green valleys, alpine meadows, and forests reveal an exceptional heritage.
These qualities of Vercors as a natural park, abundant in nature and freshness, are present in Vercors as a sound. Patient, versatile, subtle, like those French mountains. Rhythmic progression, sonic layers swirl in coats and ambiances that blunt into high peaks, and cold winds. All this to form a precise Techno sound.
And when it all comes together, the sound stops in time and space, making its own dimensions emerge. Sound suspended in the air; oxygen bubbling on the dancefloor; dancers hungry for more; and rhythms that eternalize in hypnosis and unusual depths.
