Club Furies

«When techno is in your DNA you don’t need any additional translation to understand it». That’s the starting point for Hugo Rolan, a native of northern Spain, Asturias, where he has been exposed to techno and futuristic sounds since his teenage years. In his maturity, he has mastered the language to perfection. He has been DJing for two decades, staying under the radar in the local underground scene while working a conventional day job. In parallel, he has been learning to produce and doing it, training hard and quietly until he felt it was time to go public with his work.

This is an example of a true techno lover living in the real world, loving the music carefully until the right moment puts him in the right place. Now, he returns to Illegal Alien Records‘ sub-label, Abstract Mechanisms, to present a work of four original tracks titled Proceso Atemporal ― Timeless Process, in English. A paradoxical title given that all process entails time, while timeless implies something that is outside of time or transcends it. Their sound is built in well-polished sonic layers, in which timelessness emerges as a conceptual center from which rhythms and atmospheres circulate. This produces times without times and places without place.

Visión Humana ― Human Vision, in English ― is the track that opens this process with no predefined times. If we play with the title of this track and the entire work, we could say that human vision is capable of conceptualizing timeless processes. How? One answer would be through sound; through the Hugo Rolan‘s sound. Subtlety, sonic surgical precision, patience, and sound structure allow for extended times. These elements manage to model the beginning of non-times-in-sound and non-processes-without-times. Through intergalactic semantics and Sci-Fi, the sound escapes from known dimensions, to enter unknown ones.
