1FM is the alter ego of renowned Mexican musician and producer Yuri González. Born in Mexico City, he has expanded his musical career in various cities around the world, but mainly in Guadalajara, Mexico. 1FM is the result of Gonzalez’s former project in the 2000s, Fat Naked Lady (FNL), which was part of the iconic electronic music collective Nopal Beat. Yuri had the incredible opportunity to play on the most demanding and sophisticated dance floors in Europe and America (Rome, Madrid, Venice, Serbia, New York, Havana, L.A. Benicassm, Barcelona, and Mexico).

With 1FM he embodies a new facet, more focused on old-school techno (raw techno, peak techno, drive techno), in which hard beats merge with dark and deranged atmospheres that identify this genre. After the project led by Yuri Gonzalez has been released by several labels, such as Illegal Alien Records or CommonSense, which enjoy a remarkable reputation within this competitive and nurtured scene, it is the turn of the Spanish label M4rlow Records.

WTDM Music Group is the owner of the labels that make up the WTDM Music Group of which M4rlow Records, WRD Records, dZb Records, and The Rhymes Records are part. Based in Galicia, Spain, M4rlow Records is an up-and-coming label that consistently places tracks in Beatport’s top 100. Its label boss is the musical project born from Galician artist Pablo Garcia Suarez, better known as Paul Render – sound engineer and part of Druknian City, formed by Paul Render and Franco Rossi (Argentina), owner of Xelima Records. Paul Render is the curator and mastermind behind this interesting label, who has now decided to include the Mexican project to give a twist to the sound of his label.

Their latest release is called Pandrogeny, the sixth EP from 1FM. The EP features four tracks that go straight to the dancefloor. Within the groovy spectrum of Detroit techno and the sure-fire punch of the Berlin school. On this occasion, Gonzalez invited to collaborate in one of the cuts to the producer Esteban Romero, also known as Soulstize. The homonymous track is a techno sledgehammer straight to the brain and body of the dancer, who makes his own sounds and pours them on the dance floor with body movements.

The intensity of the rhythm is high, and its structures are compact. This generates a very rich and at the same time complex density, which requires serious dances and attentive listening. In its valleys, silence comes as an enhancer and energy supplier. After reaching its limit, the rhythm increases again to finally rise to the top of the dancefloor, which sees the dancefloor shake and turn into ashes. The techno sledgehammers become bulldozers that are unstoppable and are a sample of the talent of 1FM. Undoubtedly Pandrogeny is a balanced and elegant work that gives a clear sign of what is to come with 1FM.
