Club Furies

Accents Records is a French label based in Auvergne and founded in 2015 by Sub Accent. It is dedicated to underground techno, ambient, deep, and electronic experiments. The intention of this online platform is to create bridges between artists and allow everyone to develop their music production on a human and positive scale. Its focus is the new energy of electronic music. For their new release this year, the first opus of 2024, Accents Records presents Various Artist compilation, the label’s eighth, which will be ready for this spring.

Spring is synonymous with life and renewal. The perfect time to launch this new work in the ACCENTVA series, a deliberately eclectic and topical review of electronic music. With a more generous format than ever before, it features both well-known label producers and pioneering artists whose work travels the world with its unique and immediately identifiable sound.

Thirty artists have responded to the invitation and gathered here to offer us a glimpse into the prism of contemporary musical creation. Nor are there any presupposed and therefore definitive barriers of genre or style. On the contrary, the contours drawn here are intended to be voluntarily porous and slippery, each track interconnected with another, or at least echoing what we could call the zeitgeist. This is how this new release from Accents Records presents itself.

From Lima, Peru, Andrea Zapata dabbles in the hypnotic and deep sounds of techno and other experimental subgenres. She always offers an unpredictable journey with a rather linear rhythm with extravagant sounds that create a hypnotic atmosphere along with very subtle changes that manage to take the listener to a state of peace of mind. She presents Conscientia.

One of the qualities of this type of sound is that it simultaneously models two visual landscapes through its sounds: deep subway caves and distant galaxies, in which we find ourselves lost. As the sound progresses, we can get more lost or find ourselves progressively. Don’t worry, neither one nor the other is a reason for pessimism, as long as we are sheltered in this sound.

Andrea Zapata shows great skill and mastery in sound design and in his structures, capable of being parallel incipient at times and calm and relaxing at others. One can be dual and ambivalent in her sound. Which far from being a paradox or contradiction gives a synthesis to the seemingly contradictory. A kind of aufhebung in sound. This final quality is what opens up at the end of the track when its climax comes and fades away and the water in those caves begins to freeze, and the stars of that universe begin to recede.
