Club Furies

One of our favorite Mexican labels presents a new release. Faithful to a unique style, which rests on mystery and careful sound selection, Discos Prohibidos presents Edén. This is a production of three producers in full ascent, and if we are precise, in more than ascent, flying high: from the State of Mexico, Ø B L V N, Citalan, and from the beautiful Chihuahua, AMATISTA.

Ø B L V N is formed by Fernando Valmaiin A., who produces, is the second voice, composes, and performs the intellectual design of the band, and H. Le Renard. M, composer and writer and first voice. Their format is that of a band and DJ set, within the independent music and the Mexican underground scene, with a diverse and subjective sound. Their styles are dark wave, indie dance, and techno, among others, such as experimental. Its essence is dark, introspective, melodic, and with random rhythms.

CITALAN is a DJ and producer originally from the city of Toluca, State of Mexico. He has managed to stand out in the local scene for his great ability in musical production, and for characterizing his sets and music with excellent harmonics. Serious and defined basses elaborated melodies, creative transitions, and his great way of handling the dancefloor. Thus he has managed to perform in a variety of events in different states of the country, both local and national. In Edén, CITALAN collaborated in the production inviting AMATISTA to sing the lyrics to give more mysticism to the track.

María Valeria Valenzuela Lupercio, better known as AMATISTA, is originally from the city of Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico. Passionate about fresh, melodic, and rhythmic sounds. Currently, her music is inspired by the mystical magic and energy of quartz, crystals, and minerals, which takes us on a unique sound journey. In 2022 she started her career as a DJ, inspired by artists such as Nora En Pure. The same year she started her musical production with the vision of creating melodies inspired by the connection with gemmotherapy. In 2023 she started her project OPAL EVOLUTION – a promoter and record label. The genres that stand out in his presentations are indie dance, dark disco, progressive house, and deep house.

Together, these three sonic forces collide to create Edén. The eden also refer to paradise, and in the Old Testament, it is the garden of delights where God placed Adam and Eve. Perhaps one interpretation of the painting of Eden is the painting of The Garden of Earthly Delights, the contemporary name for one of the best-known works of the Dutch painter Jheronimus Bosch. And if we look closely at the visual art of this release, we go from a religious Eden, represented in a painting, to the real Eden: that is, from the past utopia to the present idyll. I am talking about the dance floor, the party, the night and the darkness, the rite and the ritual, the music and the dance, body-to-body, sweating and excitement.

This track responds to that Edén. A reluctant beginning, perched in the interstices of darkness and enigma. Blinking night touching the day, and the sun yielding its place to the moon. The voice excites the moment and the sound raises expectation, while the sound layers settle on city streets clamoring for night, party, and dance. And when the sound emerges in purple and bluish colors, raising at the same time the rhythm of our heartbeat and the sweat wetting our body, the voice puts everything back to sleep in the ritual of the day/night transition.

And so, as the voice slips and disintegrates into night and darkness, we are sucked into its terroirs and realms, where dance and sensuality are the only ways to exist and live. There is nothing else. All that remains is to listen to the rest of the track, to give in to its dominion, to lose ourselves in its sound, and to dance to the rhythm it has imposed and proposed to us. And since that is not enough, I assure you that you will put it on repeat as I have done, until the night becomes day again, if that happens.

One more step in the evolution of Discos Prohibidos, in terms of sound and curation. And an Ø B L V N, Citalan and AMATISTA extraordinary collaboration, that does not stagnate in easy formulas, that more than variation offers variety. This time Edén positions itself in the center of the art: in the novelty and surprise in front of the established, grabbing the center of the audience wildly.
