Club Furies

Bebhionn is one of the four known moons in the Gallic group. Like Saturn’s other irregular moons, they are believed to be objects captured by the planet’s gravity, rather than having attached themselves to the dusty disc that surrounded the newly formed planet, as the regular moons are thought to have done.

Bebhionn is also the name of the project by the producer from Oviedo, Spain, who now presents an extended play titled Moon Center by one of our favorite labels of the moment, Underdub Records (Portugal; Porto). A collection of four original tracks―Nereida, Rea, Temisto, and Megaclite―with a hypnotic mix of techno beats and ethereal atmospheres. With this work, Bebhionn showcases his mastery of hypnotic techno, weaving melodic intricacies and rhythmic pulsations to transport listeners into a trance-inducing realm of electronic exploration.

Apparently, the title tracks refer to Greek mythology. In particular, Megaclite was one of Zeus’ mistresses, but also one of Jupiter’s satellites. The sound is part of what has been called sci-fi techno, which seeks to position techno at the dawn of the future in the human/universe relationship. The sound of this track ipso facto places us on that satellite, the largest planet in the solar system. Doing justice to that extension, the sound grows as it progresses, as well as its rhythm and the fears that stalk such an environment.

Once the closeness to these visual correlates becomes very intense, the sound decreases, approaching silence, paying attention to the beating of our heart and that of the universe. Once this is done, the journey begins again. Towards all the moons of Jupiter, the solar system, and all the Greek mythology, in search of more sci-fi sound. For fans of hypnotic techno and atmospheric electronica, Moon Center is a must-listen EP that expands boundaries and horizons, offering a captivating vision of Bebhionn‘s visionary art.
