Club Furies

One of our favorite record labels presents a new release. It is U’re Guay Records, founded in Uruguay in June 2018 by Imanol Castro (aka Imanol), a project that Panko joined as curator in 2020. U’re Guay is an independent label that releases varied genres from House, Electro, Acid, Techno, and old sounds of Funk, Disco, Afrobeat, and other eclectic rhythms.

For their latest release, they present an extended play by Luciano Couto, better known as KOW, from Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay. Three original tracks embark us on a fascinating musical journey in which melodic and rhythmic elements blend seamlessly to create a sonic fusion that boldly defends house and acid influences. The tracks flow effortlessly from one to the next, inviting listeners to lose themselves in a hypnotic trance of continuous movement while the acid notes add a seductive layer of intrigue.

Kovacs Rules! is full of Roland TB-303 knobs, the ones that gave birth to the acid house when sounds that resembled some kind of melting acid came out of that machine. For this track, the combination with fine constant percussion, which maintains a fixed structure, then fades out and releases the track into nothingness. To the nothingness that is subject to other structures, more agile, but just as electric. At this point, the dance already wants to be more than dance. Only it is only track number one. This is the potential of this work.

Between retro atmospheres, in which video games are flashes that call for nostalgia, acid knobs that are playful and very exciting, and disco and house halos, the sound takes us to the idyll and the ethereal. Finding a valley of silence and calm, from which it monitors the audience. The work of art in that way is hers and at the same time alter.

House, acid, and a lot of electricity, which call us to the track, but also to the beautiful nostalgia. Undoubtedly, this EP offers a euphoric and unique listening experience, consolidating KOW‘s place in the realm of immersive electronic music. It also comes complete with a remix from one of the bosses, Imanol. Load up those backpacks, get your best dance moves ready, and let’s go on an adventure.
