Damne performs with a live DJ set and hybrid. It is the artistic sound work that prostrates melancholic organic textures, ambient melody, industrial rhythms, and modular synthesis dialogues. Qualities saturated with elements of arrangement and attention to each layer of space. It is about the image of the plant as a Russian field of experiments in a primitive cult.
His most recent release to be published is his long play entitled Strangers in the Night, a collection of six original tracks released by his own label, Wetland. Set in a collection of unknown stories. Between modular villages, textured layers of space, road rhythms, heaviness of the earth, high factory walls, dances around a fire, and fields of experiments. That is the sound of the Russian record label.
Strangers in the Night is the second track of this LP, the homonym of the title. Like all techno that fascinates me, it carries the heaviness of the genre, but with an agility that loosens the moorings and allows greater freedom in the waves of sound. This requires great sound design skills because a duality of this magnitude is not so easily achieved.
The title expresses it perfectly. Especially, if we think about that situation. In two strangers in the night who know each other. They could either ignore each other (heaviness) or get along (agility). While the backdrop the night represents techno the electronics from which the sound is erected.
We must say that not only this track, but the whole entire work is phenomenal. One of the best of these weeks. While Wetland is quickly becoming one of our favorite labels. So don’t forget to keep an eye out for each of their releases, past, present, and future.
