DJ and producer Martín Villalba, born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, returns to Tlaloc Records. After presenting a simply spectacular double tracker, he returns for another equally spectacular double tracker. This time it is titled El Dictador del Cielo, a title both suggestive and provocative that includes the homonymous title and another track, Perper. Who could be the dictator of heaven? Norbert Elias already said that there are four ways of facing death. One of them is to think that there is an afterlife, rooted in religious semantics, within which we find the distinction between heaven/hell, whose sides will be assigned according to how we have behaved in profane life.
If we attend only to sound, we could arrive at what is called re-entry of form into form. That is to say, to introduce that distinction on one of the sides. On this occasion, we meet hell in heaven. Whoever the dictator of heaven is, the sound draws us into the heat and density of hell. Jammed with high temperatures, and incandescent rhythms, the sound reaches delirium and madness, heating up the track, and turning it into an inferno. Maybe it’s just that the dictator of heaven is the devil, or that the angel is akin to Martin Villalba‘s violent techno.
Be that as it may, it is an uncontrollable, tireless, fierce, and voracious track. It shows a non-negotiable attitude and a powerful sound design, with versatile and fiery structures. Another great work of the Argentine producer on the Mexican label, which shows an evolution in its sound and its curation, is in the hands of our favorite Mogo.
