Antonio Morales, better known as Sioux Deep, began his DJ career in 2013 at clandestine parties in the north of Mexico City. The genres he focused on were Electro, Dutch House, and Deep House, collaborating in some collectives of those years such as Dulce y Fresco and House Salad. It was between 2014 and 2016 that he created the collective called Undrgrnd Music in which he started a series of events on rooftops of the then-called Distrito Federal.
In 2019 he joined the CVLT-O project in which he manages events involving local and Mexican projects. In this concept, he has shared the stage with approximately more than 30 Mexican bands and musical projects, including El Ojo y La Navaja, Black Cats, Neolin, Energy Dance Lovers, Rebel Empire, and Vox Tenebra just to mention a few.
The genres found in his mixes are Darkwave, Italo, High Energy, Electro, House, Techno, EBM, Industrial and sometimes New Wave, Latin and experimental rhythms. During his career, he has performed at Olo Foro Bar, Black Centro Cultural, La Mezcalli, Centro de Salud, La Casa del Marques, San Diablo, Foro Cultural Mary Jane, Casa Trattoria, Mala Idea Bar, Donceles 58, Punto V, Aquelarrem and Estudio Mezcal. In addition, he has collaborated with local collectives and concepts such as Terror Clash, Sintetika Secuencia, and Jueves Darks just to mention a few. He has also collaborated with sessions for Cvlt-o and Dark Disco in Berlin. And now he is featured in our mix series, the famous Furious Tapes.
Our mix series is called Cintas Furiosas – Furious Tapes, in English. They are inspired by the band from the cult film The Warriors (1979) called Baseball Furies, and the scintillating Imperator Furiosa, the iconic character from the fourth installment of the Mad Max saga, Fury Road (2015), and now too from the Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (2024). Conceived as tapes that express a “furious sound”, both as a metaphor and as a sonic process, they acquire a special and unique fury with each artist they feature. With Sioux Deep, the result is very dark and very electric.
Infused with dark onset and imposing lyrics, as well as purple and red-tinged rhythms and atmospheres. Embedded in well-defined, as well as versatile rhythms. And with a well-cared selection. All this is transversed by a confident and non-negotiable attitude that transmits a lot of confidence.
Electricity is measured by a control in the decks that becomes a sine qua non-element and always in crescendo. The intensity is maintained and becomes a main element. As well as the handling of genres and styles in a homogeneous unity. All this in the end takes us to the domains of dark electronics and in control of Sioux Deep, who has built an extraordinary Cinta Furiosa. For which we thank him deeply. Now it’s time to get lost in the sounds and open all our senses because the darkness has taken over the whole atmosphere.
