Elektrax was founded in the mid-90s in Sydney, Australia, by one of the most influential DJs and producers of that city in the last 20 years: DJ Hi-Shock, now also known as Advanced Human. With the advent of digital platforms, the labels Elektrax Recordings, and the newly created subsidiary Hypnotic Room, were the first to try them out.

As a host of new artists became involved with Elektrax, additional sub-labels were created to cater to diversity. In 2008, Elektrax became Elektrax Music, the umbrella organization through which Elektrax Recordings, Darknet, Hypnotic Room, Gynoid Audio, Android Muziq, and Achromatiq are managed, followed recently by a pair of vinyl labels, Counter Pulse and AcidWorx. Today the Elektrax labels have already forged their own identities and have gained the support of most of the world’s top DJs.

For one of their most recent releases, they present one of our favorites Empath, a producer from Tampere, Finland, who presents an EP titled Rejoice. Consisting of two original tracks and an Altered States remix by Vertex Form – also known as Jenna Gilmore, its sonic textures synthesize the dark, emotive, and intelligent sounds of techno, expressing the passion of each beat, only possible through the art of a master of the craft.

Yantra is a word of Sanskrit origin, whose prefix means to conceive and by antonomasia, mental conception. It can refer to complex geometric representations of levels and energies of the cosmos and the human body. In sound, this conceptual influence is translated into constant, hammering, and hypnotic rhythms, which form complex sound layers, resembling these geometries.

With an unstoppable, unreachable rhythm, which is always in front of our perception, the yantras become guides for the dance. Incipient strength, sweeping the floor like a Bulldozer, and broad sound structure force compact reverberation. Turn those bodies into giant ears and those dance steps into material yantras.
