Club Furies Premiere: Future Feelings – Odisea Funk [Departamento Records]

We have been part of the birth of the label of the famous studio bar in the Roma neighborhood, Departamento. With several premieres, reviews, and a very interesting interview with Niandra and Sarrelangue, we couldn’t be happier that Departamento Records has opened to us the door to their sound. Since the beginning of the year, and up to now, this is how fast we have arrived at the fifth release of the Mexican label, which gives space to the artists that have enriched the sound of the famous studio bar on Alvaro Obregon Street.

This is the release of Future Feelings, the name behind which Fernando Dimare, musician, producer, and DJ, creates and plays a bold mix of Disco, Funky, and House. Since 2010, he has to his credit multiple EPs, singles, and even a full album under this name. All these releases are on respected labels in Europe and America – such as Eskimo Recordings, Nang, File Under Disco, and My Favorite Robot, among others. His compositions and remixes have been supported and streamed by artists such as RAC, Aeroplane, InFlagranti, Hercules & The Love Affair, Tensnake, Xinobi, Moullinex, Justin Strauss, Dropout Orchestra, Jacques Renault and many other notable talents.

In addition, Future Feelings has performed live at the most prominent festivals in Mexico, such as EDC, Trópico, Pal’ Norte, and Vaivén, among others. In these electrifying environments, Future Feelings has shared stages and turntables with luminaries such as Mark Ronson, 2manyDJs, DJ Harvey, Flight Facilities, Breakbot, and WhoMadeWho, consolidating his status as a preeminent force in the nu-disco world. He has remixed Clubz, Hello Seahorse, Technicolor Fabrics, Vanessa Zamora, Ilse Hendrix, Moullinex, The Knocks, Goldroom, Quiero Club, Lindstrøm, Carla Morrison, among many others.

So it was a matter of time for him to be in the catalog of Departamento Records. He does so by presenting Odisea, a collection of three original tracks. Odyssey is a long journey, abounding with adventures both adverse and favorable to the traveler. In adjectives, it can be called something that indicates adventure, peripeteia, or work.

This trilogy of songs has its origin in a jam session that took place 20 years ago in the city of Buenos Aires. A group of friends got together to create these works without knowing what they were going to play until they pressed the record button. These recordings remained forgotten until now when they were dusted off to give them a fresh revival with the aroma of 2024, taking into account the revival of this style of downtempo music.

Odisea Funk is an adventure through the sound of these rhythms, which emerged from jam improvisation, which is noticeable by overwhelming tranquility and relaxation. And that does not detract from any rhythmic devoid, or inaccuracies in the sound design. Improvisation that characterizes jazz, and electronic precision.

Infinite relaxation, and wide soundscapes, settled in green and fresh meadows, as well as in utopian moons and astronauts in leafy pastures. A track that with a duration of almost 5 minutes extends in our mind extensively, reaching the horizons of our perception.
