Club Furies Review | Of stolen poetry, lonely cities and perennial nostalgia: Alejandro Veneno and Fiero Du Mosca present Fierro for the new release of Departamento Records.

Our most famous Departamento has taken the next step since a few months ago. In the center of Colonia Roma, on Álvaro Obregón, the famous club and studio bar Departamento has created its own record division, Departamento Records. After six releases, with all the soul and history of its essence, comes the next one.

It is Fierro, a two-song single, the track of the same name, and Se Va Un Gran Dia. Both are the result of a collaboration between Alejandro Veneno (as producer) and Fiero Du Mosca (as singer). Alejandro Veneno is a musician and producer of electronic music born in the west of Buenos Aires, with wide participation in the underground of Mexico City. Besides playing in some festivals and clubs around the world, he collaborated with the fashion brand Valentino and participated in the 2017 Venice Biennale with his project Junkspeed, as well as running his own label, Música Sensación. His music is the intersection of romantic songs with electronic dance music. He moves within different styles, tempos, and intensities, with a search that goes beyond genre, towards the search for a sensation.

Fierro is the result of the producer’s personal experimentation, at first, both tracks are then finished together with Fiero Du Mosca in two studios in Mexico City. Instrumentally they are deep electronic songs, one in the universe of downtempo and the other with a cadence that borders on deep house. Vocally both have a take on a repetition style bordering on mantra.

The title of the name of the first song could tell us something about the character of the sound. However, it plays with metaphors and minus one hyperboles, given the sound of the song is nostalgic, cute, and very romantic. In search of love, sheltered in the elusive, and infinite cities, the voice of Fiero Du Mosca perfectly accompanies a sound that together forms atmospheres and environments both bright and lucid and dreamy.

Se Va Un Gran Dia is the culmination of something that began, that has ended, and that wants to leave a record that is condensed in memory. It is a track that concentrates on passion, sweetness, electricity, self-confidence, reaching idyll, absolute happines. Prostrated in energized nostalgia and present pasts that seek to eternalize. The sound in this case bounces and reverberates more than the voice, whose intentional character is to remain latent. We have gone from downtempo to deep house, amidst everyday, yet potent meanings.

The sound of Departamento Records with this release, led by Alejandro Veneno and Fiero Du Mosca, is once again versatile, not limited by specific genres or rigid concepts. On the other hand, it shows a great curatorship, its own artistic development, and a lot of sobriety in terms of management.
