Amalle‘s devotion to dogged musical expression dates back to his roots in dubstep and drum and bass. Since then, his productions have taken the form of a cinematic bridge that traverses the worlds of techno, IDM, jungle, breaks, and house.
Works such as techno EPs like The Occhiolist and Unbound tell tales of an unwillingness to mold oneself into a static state, while singles like Sorrow’s End, Altar, and Amble showcase the sentimental nature of his art. Although he prefers original works, the Berlin-based producer does not shy away from remixes. On Steve Mill’s «The Mistake – Amalle & Yambow Remix», released on True Romance Records, he seamlessly blends garage and breakbeat influences, a nod to the British sound that continues to inspire his work. Meanwhile, the emotive cover of «Immersed (Amalle Remix)» by his college friends Mad Tree further demonstrates his versatility, as the worlds of indie rock and electronica meet with tasteful finesse.
Now, he presents us with his upcoming EP called Oh No, My Clementine, a collection of four tracks that mixes elements of breaks, jungle, and other musical jargon within a techno set. He’s had a lot of fun experimenting with this track, looking for a way to make a unique mark while satisfying the demand for club sound. Soon to be released on his O-Tapes label, this is a sound that remains unbound against rigid compartments – although an almost impossible task – serves the purpose of this project and beyond.
The eponymous track and the one that kicks off this sound world is a techno hammer that works very well for the club; at the same time showcasing the half-Austrian and half-Lebanese producer’s sonic versatility. With multiple sound valleys, in which the perspective opens and expands, and hills of intensity that open to the infinity of electronics, they form a complex soundscape, rich in rhythms and sounds, which even reach to spread acid.
