Club Furies

Led by visionary DJ and producer The Unborn Child, Wrong Theory is one of the new record labels that promotes quality electronic music, in particular techno. It showcases the cutting edge of the global electronic music scene, of musical innovation. After two releases, one by the boss and another by Heckerman, now the triad is completed with YearsAstray, a singular artist ex-based in Barcelona, whose abstract sound, completely detached from formulas, is practically unclassifiable.

YearsAstray presents on the Spanish label an EP titled Barna, composed of four original tracks. An EP with a deeply personal and emotional story. It was produced during the month of June, a turbulent moment in YearsAstray‘s life when he lost his apartment in Barcelona. This event triggered a series of important reflections and decisions, which led him to the conclusion that he no longer wanted to continue living in the city he once considered his home.

Barna is not just a collection of songs, but the sonic manifestation of a life experience. YearsAstray has channeled his disillusionment and sense of loss into every note, seeking a more skeletal, serious, and darker sound than in any of his previous projects. The production process was cathartic for him, allowing him to explore and express raw and sincere emotions. Each track is imbued with an atmosphere of introspection and melancholy, reflecting a period of transition and personal redefinition.

The sound of Cuentos en Jesus is dense and very dark. But it doesn’t take long for it to freshen up and speed up, in a spectacular way. After a few more seconds, it coils into crisp sparkles and galactic antennae. After which it bursts into the veins of the night and the dance floor.

Prostrate in deep hypnotisms, but allowing not-so-deep introspections, it stays afloat in high moments of the night. And so the stabilized rhythm allows attentive listening but is also very enjoyable. Between conceptual depth and sonic lightness, the result manages to be very special.

This EP marks an important chapter in YearsAstray‘s career, as it shows his ability to transform personal experiences into resonant music. Listening to it is an opportunity to connect with the depth of his emotional journey and appreciate the powerful narrative he has created through his art.
