Mateo Muñoz Pino, better known as EL MAMU, is a producer, DJ, and live act from Bogotá, Colombia. His project is focused on hypnotic techno, paralleled by his more groove-laden facets. With years of experience as a versatile and multifaceted producer, in addition to a professional career as a classical pianist, he has managed to sign his tracks on various international labels such as trau-ma, TNR Media and PA$TI and has shared the stage with artists such as Alarico DJ Pete, Truncate, Chris Liberator, Verraco, among others.
For one of his most recent releases to be published, Rowan Underground presents Nadaism, an extended play of five original tracks and two remixes, one by Leandro Taibbi and the other by Artyem. The title of this work refers to the cultural and literary movement that emerged in Colombia in the ’60s and ’70s, characterized by its rejection of the cultural, literary, and political traditions of the time.
In the sound of the Colombian producer is quite suggestive, especially because it is rooted in techno, which historically pours a kind of counterculture in the sound against the established, from its origins in Detroit to its rise in Berlin, after the fall of the Berlin Wall. Trunks works as a solid log that knows how to become a well-oiled techno drill.
Behind labyrinths of hypnotic sound, textured by thick grooves, the track becomes overwhelming. Only at the same time velvety. Delirium mediated by a well-cared sound design that leaves us immersed in its structures.
