Two of our favorite artists of the moment join creative forces for what is potentially one of the best releases of these weeks. I’m talking about Damne, a producer from Russia, and Mogo, a producer from Mexico. Both run their own labels: Wetland and Tlaloc Records, respectively. Their collaboration is called Red Bike, a collection of four original mixes and remixes by Martyn Playfrd, ØLMØ, and Roi.
It is presented as follows: «After an exciting ride on a red bike, I decided to take a break and watch a game of ping-pong, but my attention was soon drawn to a busy anthill near the tipper in the corner of the yard.» Red Bike is by far my favorite track in this installment. Hesitant beginnings, probing the terrain of the infinity of electronic music sound. The decision has to be made soon, urgently.
The sound design nevertheless plays with this haste and at the same time with latent calms that form an exciting and expectant duality. What’s coming, and where to. Everything starts to turn into a bicycle trip, in the middle of melting forests and reddish atmospheres that soon die out into nothingness. Meanwhile, the emergency announced at the beginning remains manifest and the latent calm plays in other dimensions.
