Club Furies

One of our favorite record labels presents its new release. In an environment where finding a geographical nodal place for underground electronic music is hard to pinpoint, given the universal nature of electronica, it has to be said that Spain is one of those places. And EXP Records is one of the most important emerging nodes from the point of view of record curation. With races well grounded in techno and experimentation, it’s time to present reference number 31. The artist in charge is Aridan Torke, a Spanish producer and DJ, focused on techno music, responsible for Cronopolis and Logical Methods.

Aridan Torke focuses on industrial and hypnotic-tinged techno, with powerful kicks that break on the dance floor, accompanied by a mental experience full of vibrant atmospheres inspired by nature, textures, and fast and cutting percussions. Anger Curve is the name of his release, a collection of five original tracks, whose sound gives us all this techno experience created by Aridan Torke. His tracks take us through an irregular curve of powerful and direct techno, solid, clean, and enveloping sound.

If we pay attention to the titles of the tracks that make up this work, we realize that they follow a process. Depression is a mental illness characterized by a sad, melancholic, unhappy, despondent, or depressed state of mind that interferes with daily life. For this it is necessary that something triggers it -track one-, going into crisis -track two-, the depression itself -track three-, the recovery and the ascent or exit from it -tracks four and five.

Depression can therefore be considered from this point of observation as the core of this work. Its sound is intense, dense, and highly charged with sonic layers. Meanwhile, in other sonic lanes, it swings towards the agility and freshness that every dancefloor requires. This means that it itself contains immense depths, as well as atmospheric agilities. This allows it to be itself an imposing sonic duality.

All the work itself is another sample, on the one hand of the curatorship of the EXP Rercords but also of the potentialities, already manifested, of Aridan Torke, who delivers a very powerful work. Hence, both artist and label, print a phenomenal release, one of the best of these weeks.
