Club Furies

We present Rapture, an independent electronic music label, based in Porto, Portugal. Inspired by genres such as Darkwave, EBM, Industrial, and other sonorities that thrive through Techno. They just debuted a few months ago with Murk at Down, a compilation of several artists in vinyl format. Now, they are back to present another various artist compilation, titled Mors Atra, composed of five original tracks.

Like the black plague that ravaged the old continent in the 14th century, Rapture‘s new album portrays the spread across Europe of a shadow in the form of sound waves. The compilation will feature two Khidi residents, OTHR and Unhuman, as well as Incendie and Notausgang, from France, and Portugal’s EMMA.

EMMA was created by two producers, Raul and Pedro, an electronic creation duo from the north of Portugal, who between 2015 and 2022 developed and explored their musical language. After 7 years together, Pedro will continue to develop EMMA‘s musical approach which has evolved from the more atmospheric to the more energetic; to hard and powerful sounds that refer to a darker aesthetic, linked to Techno and EBM.

EMMA presents Sleep Cycles, the opening track of this second edition of Rapture. Sleep cycles are the phases a person goes through while sleeping, which are repeated several times a night. In the sound of this track, those sleep cycles are recoded into structures that emulate it. Taciturn beginnings, which quickly become denser and more fragmented, as opposed to the deep stages of sleep, in which dreams are nourished with meaning.

Once the rhythm has stabilized, in well-laden skeins of sonic layers and tight structures, the dream is at its deepest stage. From there you can turn to the acid and its Roland TB-303 knobs, which unleash the sound. At that point, the sound loops between delta sonic climax and silence, and from there veers into complete silence.
