Daniel Ramos, better known as 9 8 r p m, is a DJ and producer, based in Bogota, Colombia. Easily draws the audience into a sonic cosmos, where abstract sequences and avant-garde overdrops immerse them in a unique experimental and creative journey. Our mix series is called Cintas Furiosas – Furious Tapes, in English. They are inspired by the band from the cult film The Warriors (1979) called Baseball Furies, and the scintillating Imperator Furiosa, the iconic character from the fourth installment of the Mad Max saga, Fury Road (2015), and now too from the Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (2024). Conceived as tapes that express a “furious sound”, both as a metaphor and as a sonic process, they acquire a special and unique fury with each artist they feature. That’s right! 98 r p m is next in our series.

Tense lulls and hypnotic labyrinths are the entrance to this sound world. Progressively these elements are tied in simultaneously dense and agile knots that are condensed in bubbles of locked techno that stop the known spatio-temporal coordinates. So we enter the dimensions that 98 r p m proposes to us. Reaching the climax of this sonorous structure, everything stops in exciting as well as expectant tinkles. This means that the artist observes the audience, while the latter has to abide by the demands of the proposed sound. What follows in this dance?

The deepening of the trance state, amidst ambiences and atmospheres, whose density is now latent but overwhelming. This is achieved with a well-managed sound design and transitions. Between cybernetic circuits in full decomposition and their recoding into electronic sounds, new realities emerge. The rest of this new reality we leave to you…
