Siddhant Jain is an electronic music producer and DJ based in Berlin, working under the pseudonym ELM. The name was inspired by a book the artist read as a teenager, in which elm trees served as a meeting place for travelling artists: places of rest, exchange, and inspiration. That image resonated deeply with him and continues to inform his creative philosophy. ELM is a kind of sonic refuge, where ideas take root and contrasts between light and shadow, energy and introspection, are explored through sound.
For one of his most recent tracks, the Observant label presents him in its Various Artists compilation, entitled Point of View, now in its fifth volume. His track is called Karna, and its sound is somewhere between Deep Techno and Hypnotic Techno, mixing the more than incipient sound of India with the current techno sound of Germany.
Deep in the depths of Techno, amidst underground lakes and cold caves, the sound is metallised and electrified, with thin strands and layers of sound organically adhering to it. Quickly stabilised on these sonic rails, the hypnosis is chilled but electrified and well entrenched.
