Focusing on dancefloor-oriented electro, sprinkled with elements of Detroit techno, cat can do has become one of our favourite artists, both for the versatility of his sounds, which at the same time maintain their own identity, and for the charisma and freshness with which he puts them together. This cat produces all his techno live, and his DJ sets consist solely of original material.

From Ice to Analogue Sound: cat can do presents ALASKA II by Diffuse Reality Records

Born in Canada and based in Alicante, Spain, he now presents his next release. It’s called Detroit Knows, presented by one of our favourite labels, France’s Lett Records, who describes the release as follows: «A few weeks ago, I was relaxing at home and asked for demos. Sean sent me this four-track EP, which I loved from the first listen. So I didn’t hesitate long before turning it into the new Lett Records release. This EP will transport you straight to Detroit. Enjoy it.»

The eponymous track shows overt excitement through latent consequences, not shown as such, but felt. Steadily and patiently paced, the track progresses, moulding its layers subtly. A sonorous skein managed by a rhythm that, without noticing it, has taken us to the climax, after which the same rhythm appears, mediated in different sonorous coordinates. Therein lies the genius of this track.
