SINTHAX (known in the past as Juan HHH) at the age of seventeen joined his first group, a punk rock band. A few years later, he moved his residence to London, UK, and was one of the founders of the English band Whispers and Screams. After recording an EP produced by the guitarist of the British band «Alien Sex Fiend», he moved to Los Angeles (USA) and shortly after to New York, where he became a regular in electronic music clubs.
Due to his growing passion for electronic music, he decided to move to Berlin (Germany), where he became a resident DJ in two clubs, Eimer and Aktions Galerie. Later, he would return to his native country, Spain, where he was a regular DJ in clubs in northern Spain and major festivals such as Feeling Direct, Fonotica (International Festival of Electronic Music and Multimedia), coming to share a booth with artists like Joey Beltran, Surgeon, Kenny Larkin, Ben Sims, Umeck, Exium, Gemini, Rainner Truby.
Later, he would decide to temporarily leave the night and the electronic scene, dedicating himself to other facets. In 2012, he was asked to participate in an electronic music festival in the Plaza Mayor of his city, Valladolid, continuing since then, periodically, the production and participation in events as a DJ.
Our mix series is called Cintas Furiosas – Furious Tapes, in English. They are inspired by the band from the cult film The Warriors (1979), called the Baseball Furies, and the scintillating Imperator Furiosa, the iconic character from the fourth installment of the Mad Max saga, Fury Road (2015), and now also from Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (2024). Conceived as tapes that express a “furious sound”, both as a metaphor and as a sonic process, they acquire a special and unique fury with each artist they feature. This time is SINTHAX!
Trepid beginnings, full of energy, that surpass the first ten minutes, settle into valleys of reflection, with calm sounds, among which the owls become their guardians. The owls dissolve into stalking eagles amid electrified, metallic whips that melt sound into effervescent lava. When the effervescence evaporates and relinquishes control, the dance floor is in full delirium, as the sound pierces through laser flashes and latencies and heavy bubbles.
Sophisticated encodings, shaking the floor circuits and embedding themselves throughout the ambience, humming like fine metals and stardust-like earths. Latencies are activated and oxygen valves clamoring for more air, while everything is left hanging by a thread. Everything is clouded, and there is only the sound and us. When we come to, we realize that we are leaving the Earth’s orbit, into galactic wastelands.
Among rough and sandy terrains, everything becomes precious metals in the midst of distant moons. Strangely, that same ambience takes us back to the depths of the night, deep inside night lights and city basements. And between those spatiotemporal loops, the sound and we become one.
