ULTRAMIND is a mental exercise that questions the listener with: «What are you thinking?». It is also an emerging record label from Mexico City that is just beginning to define its sonic narrative.
For their second release, the Mexican project presents the duo Basura & Mierda (Trash & Shit), who explore and exploit their bass roots from Miami and Los Angeles, respectively. The duo continues dancing in the territories of theater, surrealism, masculine vulnerability, horror, nostalgia, romantic emotion, the absurd, and hypnosis through subliminal messages. Their aesthetic is a raw and artistic declaration.
Their new EP is titled «Socio Sucio» (Dirty Partner), a collection of seven original tracks from which «Cayendo de Abajo» (Falling from Below) is a truly spectacular and simply rendered piece of art. The track offers a hypnotism that feels subconscious, with an agility and freshness that evoke the sensation of skateboards gliding through the city streets, making all its history and roots palpable.
Simultaneously, the track is built upon valleys of deep calm and peaks of sharp yet compact vibrations that stir contained excitement. Between calmness and emotion, «Cayendo de Abajo» stands as a metaphor that becomes concrete in sound: the descent is as liberating as the ascent. This is bass music that doesn’t just resonate in the body but activates the mind.
