CF Premiere: Gisèle Kérozen – Yolega [Kyma Komplex]

Kyma Komplex, the Mexico City-based label where art, culture, and entertainment are conceived as acts of liberation, presents its latest and most enigmatic signing: Gisèle Kérozen. This artist hails from a parallel apocalyptic era, wandering aimlessly from station to station. Through her mazoutoso (oily/raw) art, she narrates the complexities of her chaotic and scarce universe. Always in search of electric sounds or lead-free sandwiches, «Gigi» ignites lost dance floors here and there, with her «paw atrophied by the acidic remnants of her tracks.»

Gisèle Kérozen debuts on the Mexican label with «Electric Equinox,» an EP that captures the essential tension between emotion and control, energy and stillness. Born from a sudden surge of inspiration, the project translates a deeply personal moment into an electric flow of rhythms, synthesizers, and textures that throb with constant movement.

Marked by the immediacy of live performance, each track begins as an instinctive improvisation and evolves through subtle refinement in the studio without losing its raw vitality. The electric layers, precise percussion, and melodic flashes shape a cavernous yet vibrant soundscape, designed to trigger an instinctive physical response.

The closure of this journey is the piece «Yolega,» which erupts from silence and the «other world» with pure electricity. It stands out for its outstanding percussion, complex yet agile sonic layers, and a mysterious but unshakably confident attitude. The progression is continuous, maintaining complexity, constant electricity, and a rhythm that ebbs and flows between voices that breathe and vanish, and wails that clamor. One of the greatest successes of «Yolega» is that it manages, with all its raw and tense attributes, to be profoundly sexy, exciting, and highly suggestive. A spectacular closing for a memorable debut.
