Within the broader landscape of music — and electronic music in particular — Various Artists compilations hold a unique place. Their value goes far beyond the number of names involved; they open the sound to the full spectrum of what electronic art can be. They also reveal the curatorial vision behind them: selecting artists, choosing tracks, and shaping a coherent narrative is no small task. At the same time, compilations are one of the best ways to discover new artists, often uncovering hidden gems that didn’t fit into a full release or simply hadn’t found the right context elsewhere.

We’re proud to introduce the first Various Artists compilation from Abstract Mechanisms, the sister label of Illegal Alien Records. This inaugural edition brings together 15 tracks from 16 different artists, offering a wide and diverse sonic map. At Club Furies, we’ll be premiering three of those fifteen tracks, starting with “El olvido del ser” by Spanish artist Ana Alves, a piece that sets the conceptual and aesthetic tone for the compilation.

Originally from Madrid and now based in Barcelona, Ana Alves is a DJ and producer who has carved out a space in the Spanish underground scene through an unwavering focus on dark, raw, and hypnotic techno. In recent years, she has taken confident steps in music production, releasing tracks on well-established labels that clearly showcase her strong sonic identity. She is also known for her ability to adapt to the nuances of each event, connecting seamlessly with the crowd from the very first moments. Her dynamic, progressive sets keep the dancefloor energized throughout, reflecting a deep and genuine passion for the genre.

The sonic narrative of “El olvido del ser” begins with a striking image: intergalactic ships stranded in the vast emptiness of the universe, cut off from central command and drifting without direction. In this scenario, the astronauts are forced to take control themselves. From there, the track balances sci-fi techno with a rougher, more aggressive, and rugged form of techno. It feels as though the infinite delicacy of the cosmos collides head-on with the dense, explicit force of the Earth.

On an individual level, this collision manifests as deep psychological tribulations and unavoidable mental clashes. Somewhere between internal delirium and the pull of the dancefloor, the sound moves through valleys that exist in liminal spaces: earth and universe, mind and exterior, delicacy and strength. A series of dualities that meet and tension each other, while the sound design remains true to itself, preserving its unique character without compromise.
