We return with one of our favorite Spanish labels. Signal Rec is an underground techno/industrial/drone label, created in 2019 by Drop-E and Mau. One of Signal’s most important characteristics is the atmospheric, forceful, and hypnotic nature of its productions. The label constantly feeds on underground culture with the shared desire to conquer new ears, along with the impulse to contribute to the evolution of electronic music.
For their most recent release, they present Siarem, also known as Diabo, the project of David Sánchez. This DJ and producer from Albacete, dedicated to electronic music for over 25 years, is a true sound artisan who understands machines with astonishing sensitivity. Siarem is his alter ego through which he releases his most underground version of Techno, EBM, and Electro, with sounds that emanate from the depths to create atmospheres you won’t want to leave.
In his debut on Signal Rec, David Siarem presents a varied package ranging from mysterious and deep tracks to frantic club bangers. He provides a solid lesson in what we need most in the current techno scene: hypnotic drum sequences richly overlaid with mysterious pads, resonant synthesizers, undulating bass lines, and bright highs. The label describes the launch’s concept as «Infinite flows of consciousness that run parallel to each other in every fraction of time. They are like myriads of parallel universes coexisting in unstoppable synchronicity with one another.»
«Discordia» (Discord) is an opposition or disagreement of wills or opinions. In the sound of the track bearing this name, we are simply left speechless. From the first time we heard it, we were struck by the sonic layers and its structure: clean, bright, yet also dark and fiercely intense. With a diamond-hard techno beginning that immediately imposes itself, its development is progressive/continuous, reaching quite a peak climax. After the peak, the decoupling and synthesis of the entire track shake the dance floor, as well as the dancer’s psyche. Without a doubt, it is our favorite on a release that is spectacularly cohesive overall.
