With the arrival of the somber winter solstice, Seremonia, the EABE sublabel, offers its third sacrifice: Uhrilahja —Finnish for “ritual offering”— a compilation conceived as a ceremonial act dedicated to the ancient and the essential. Five producers shape this sonic rite: Empath, Joel Kinnunen, Kimik, unknownfunction, and Loot, each contributing their own invocation within a shared ritual gesture.
From Helsinki, Finland, Loot presents Until Dawn, a deeply cinematic piece, shaped by soundscapes that evoke powerful visual imagery—dark, cold, and desolate. Abandoned places, broken hopes, and deadly frost unfold into a narrative of endless nights, where snowfall carries no promise of an end.
The track is rooted in ambient and atmospheric textures, yet layered in a way that guides it toward hypnotic techno, bordering on dub and carrying almost tribal undertones. These layers form clearly defined sonic labyrinths that extend beyond the auditory, producing direct effects on the psyche: emotional mazes that are identifiable, yet complex in their consequences.
An apparent sonic simplicity conceals a precise and carefully crafted sound design. Until Dawn moves toward daybreak, but does so within a world where dawn never truly arrives—suspended in an eternal state of vigilance and anticipation.
