Club Furies

The visual identity of the London-based Duplicity label is both clear and consistent. It is rooted in a minimalist design language built from lines and crosses that form distinctive shapes, whether for solo artist releases or Various Artists compilations. This visual system is not static; instead, elements are constantly exchanged and reconfigured, reinforcing a living identity that remains recognizable without becoming repetitive.

To kick off the year, the label presents its sixth Various Artists compilation, an ambitious release featuring no less than 34 original tracks by artists from all over the world. For our first Premiere, we turn our attention to Hungary, specifically Budapest, a city whose electronic music scene is vibrant and widely regarded as one of the key pulses of the underground—not only in Europe, but worldwide.

Club Furies Premiere: Konstantin Scharf – C-Falter [Duplicity]

The chosen artists are CVRDWELL and Out Of Sight, who come together on a track titled Trantor. The name inevitably evokes the fictional planet from Isaac Asimov’s Foundation series: the capital of the Galactic Empire, a fully urbanized “city-world,” and a symbol of centralized power and encapsulated civilization.

The track itself could easily be understood as a sonic translation of that planet. Its speed propels us ipso facto into the future, while its intense rhythm mirrors the relentless pace of a fully urbanized world, with all the implications that carry for everyday life. There is a constant sense of motion, of systems operating at full capacity.

From a purely sonic perspective, Trantor is crisp, unstoppable, and meticulously layered. Its structure is clean and expansive, allowing for subtle, well-crafted drops to emerge naturally. The breakdowns feel like the remnants of nuclear potential—moments of restraint whose apparent extinction gives rise to renewed sonic life, pushing the track forward once again.
