One of our favorite emerging labels returns with a new release, this time with the third installment of its Various Artists series. We’re talking about Rauschtrax, based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, presenting the third volume of CHIEF BOARD. Ten different artists contribute their own sonic visions, all firmly grounded in the Argentine label’s identity: a direct, raw, and mental aesthetic designed for the body and the endurance of the dancefloor.
CHIEF BOARD operates as a collective control board, a space where multiple interpretations of contemporary techno coexist without losing coherence or direction. More than a simple compilation, this volume acts as a snapshot of the current Argentine underground, where groove, tension, and repetition function as shared languages. Each track engages in dialogue with the others, reinforcing a common narrative that prioritizes rave functionality while preserving risk and individual character.
We focus here on the track by Raptis, an Argentine artist based in Buenos Aires and curator of Vertigo, a rave community rooted in Argentina. Shai Shai is simultaneously a sonic velvet and a powerful mental drill: a constant, fierce, and relentless groove that moves through the environment with brutal confidence.
After valleys of silence that modulate speed and pulse, the track returns through a new synthesis, just as effective as the first, but unfolding along different sonic rails that ultimately detonate the ground beneath it. Under these conditions, the mind fully submits to the sound of Shai Shai and Raptis, surrendering to a dense and precise hypnotism, transformed into a perfectly crafted sonic velvet.
